The turning point came midway through the second period when Boston University forward Cole Eiserman snapped a 1-1 tie. Pouncing on a slick cross-ice pass, Eiserman buried a one-timer to give USA a lead they would never relinquish.

At the other end of the ice, Michigan State goaltender Trey Augustine continued his stellar tournament with a 26-save performance. The American defense limited Czechia’s opportunities, with their lone goal coming off the stick of Jakub Štancl.

Standing between the US and a successful title defense is a determined Finland side that edged out Sweden 4-3 in overtime in their semifinal tilt. The Finns actually defeated the Americans 4-3 in the preliminary round, setting the stage for an epic rematch for all the marbles.
