The frenzied early signing period for 2025 men’s college basketball recruits has come to a close, solidifying the future fortunes of programs across the country. As the dust settles, the landscape of the 2025 recruiting class rankings has shifted dramatically, with some of the sport’s blueblood programs jockeying for top position and a few surprises cracking the top 10.
Duke Maintains Grip on No. 1 Spot
Bolstered by the commitments of five-star twins Cameron Boozer (No. 2 overall) and Cayden Boozer (No. 17), Duke head coach Jon Scheyer has ensured the Blue Devils remain atop the recruiting hierarchy. The sons of former Duke standout Carlos Boozer bring a championship pedigree to Durham, joined by top-35 prospects Shelton Henderson and Nikolas Khamenia.
However, Duke’s perch is far from unassailable. With seven of the top 12 prospects still undecided, contenders like Kentucky, Houston, Arizona, and Notre Dame all have the potential to make a late push for the No. 1 class, especially if Duke misses on top-five recruit Nate Ament.
UConn, Arkansas Round Out Top 3
Fresh off back-to-back national titles, UConn has capitalized on its on-court success to secure verbal pledges from a trio of top-25 recruits. Darius Adams (No. 19), Eric Reibe (No. 23), and Braylon Mullins (No. 24) represent an unprecedented haul for the Huskies in the modern recruiting era.
Meanwhile, John Calipari’s move to Arkansas has paid immediate dividends. The Razorbacks hold commitments from a pair of top-10 prospects in elite point guard Darius Acuff (No. 8) and high-scoring wing Meleek Thomas (No. 9), the only program that can currently boast two recruits ranked that highly.
SMU Crashes the Party
The biggest surprise of the 2025 class rankings is undoubtedly SMU. In their first year under head coach Andy Enfield and as a member of the ACC, the Mustangs have corralled pledges from four ESPN 100 prospects, highlighted by skilled forward B.J. Davis-Ray (No. 69).
Andy Enfield is bringing his recruiting magic from USC to the Hilltop. Landing four top-100 guys in Year 1 is a huge statement for SMU as they transition to the ACC.

Blue Bloods Battle for No. 5
Kentucky and Kansas find themselves neck-and-neck for the No. 5 class in the country. The Wildcats hold pledges from in-state five-star guard Jasper Johnson (No. 13) and top-40 recruit Malachi Moreno, while Bill Self and the Jayhawks surged late with commitments from No. 3 overall prospect Darryn Peterson and top-30 forward Bryson Tiller (No. 26).
Key Battles Still to Come
With so many elite prospects still on the board, the 2025 recruiting landscape remains fluid. Here are a few ongoing recruitments that could shake up the class rankings:
- No. 1 prospect A.J. Dybantsa is choosing between BYU, UNC, Kansas State, and Alabama
- No. 5 Caleb Wilson appears focused on Kentucky and North Carolina
- No. 6 Koa Peat is considering Arizona, Houston, Baylor, and Arizona State
- No. 7 Chris Cenac Jr. will decide between LSU, Tennessee, and Houston
As the 2024-25 season gets underway, the focus now shifts back to the court. But for the top 2025 recruits and the programs pursuing them, the real competition is just beginning. The whirlwind early signing period provided plenty of drama and surprises – a prelude of the recruiting battles still on the horizon that will shape men’s college basketball for years to come.
