The Texas A&M Aggies football program received a major boost to their offense on Sunday with the commitment of NC State transfer wide receiver Kevin Concepcion. The electric sophomore playmaker announced his decision to join coach Mike Elko’s squad, providing an immediate injection of talent to the Aggies’ receiving corps.
Concepcion, a 5-foot-11, 189-pound dynamo, lit up the ACC as a true freshman in 2023. He earned Freshman All-American honors and was named the ACC Rookie of the Year after setting the NC State freshman record with 71 receptions. The Charlotte native racked up 839 receiving yards, added 320 rushing yards, and found the end zone 10 times in a sensational debut campaign.
Instant-Impact Addition
For an Aggies offense that struggled down the stretch in 2024, the addition of Concepcion has the potential to be a game-changer. Texas A&M stumbled to an 8-5 record in Elko’s second season, dropping four of their final five contests including a heartbreaking 35-31 loss to USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Elko and his staff have aggressively attacked the transfer portal this offseason to address the team’s offensive shortcomings. Concepcion becomes the third high-profile transfer receiver to join the Aggies, alongside former Mississippi State standout Mario Craver and Texas Tech’s Micah Hudson.
Concepcion’s explosive playmaking ability should make an immediate impact in Aggieland. He has the speed to take the top off defenses and the shiftiness to create big plays after the catch.

Reloading the Receiving Corps
The departures of seniors Ainias Smith and Jalen Preston left the Aggies thin on proven pass-catchers entering the offseason. That made wide receiver a top priority for Elko and the Texas A&M staff in the transfer portal.
- Noah Thomas, the team’s leading returning receiver, figures to start on the outside opposite Concepcion.
- Rising freshman Terry Bussey flashed major potential in limited opportunities and should see an expanded role.
The Aggies also added tight end reinforcements through the portal in Micah Riley from Auburn and Nebraska’s Nate Boerkircher. With Concepcion now in the fold, Texas A&M’s passing game suddenly looks much more formidable for 2025.
Bouncing Back in the SEC West
The Aggies are determined to return to contention in the always-rugged SEC West after a trying 2024 campaign. If the offense can take a step forward, a bounceback season could be in the cards.
Concepcion certainly has the talent to emerge as a star in the SEC. He proved himself against elite ACC competition last season, recording seven games with 75+ receiving yards.
I’m excited to get to work with my new teammates and coaches. Texas A&M provides a great opportunity for me to chase my dreams on and off the field. I can’t wait to make an impact in maroon and white!
– Kevin Concepcion
If Concepcion can continue his upward trajectory, the Aggies’ offense will be a force to reckon with in 2025. Texas A&M faithful are hoping the former Wolfpack standout is the missing piece that helps the program return to the top of the SEC West standings.
