Strictly Come Dancing: Spooky Showdown in Week Six

Grab your broomsticks and twirl into the ballroom, it’s time for Strictly Come Dancing’s annual Halloween spooktacular! In this bone-chilling sixth week of the competition, our remaining 11 pro-celebrity pairs will don their most phantasmagorical fancy dress and hit the dancefloor, hoping to bewitch the judges with their supernatural moves. Whose footwork will be frighteningly fabulous, and whose will have the judges howling in horror? It promises to be a scream!

Tricks, Treats and Terrifying Tangos

As the competition creeps past its halfway point, the dancing duos are pulling out all the stops to avoid a nightmare before Strictly-mas. According to a source close to the show, viewers can expect routines dripping with ghostly glamour and chilling choreography, as the pairs summon up every ounce of spooky creativity to impress the judges.

“It’s the one week where the costume and makeup departments really get to let their imaginations run wild,” the insider revealed. “From eerie eyeshadow to petrifying prosthetics, the transformations are spectacular. The dancers become different characters entirely.”

And of course, it wouldn’t be Strictly without a spine-tingling selection of music to match. Expect X-Factor champ Shayne Ward to tango to “Bring Me to Life” while wildlife presenter Montell Douglas quicksteps to “Monster Mash”. Rumor has it that one couple may even attempt to jive to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” – complete with zombie costumes and ghoulish backup dancers!

Dances Scarier Than the Dance-Off?

Of course, beneath the goofy getups and ghostly face paint, it’s still a fierce fight for the Glitterball trophy. As the numbers dwindle, nobody wants to be the one booted off just short of the contest’s midway mark. And after last week’s shock dance-off appearances from relatively high-scoring contestants like JB Gill, it’s clear that no one is safe.

“Everyone’s desperate not to fall foul of any frightening footwork this week,” divulged our Strictly mole. “They’ve been practicing morning, noon and night. Although that’s tricky when you’re trying to paso doble in a Frankenstein mask!”

“I can’t even sip my water properly in this thing,” one exhausted-looking celeb was overheard admitting to their partner during rehearsals. “How am I meant to do a samba?”

Spooky Surprises in Store?

So who’ll be giggling like a witch and who’ll be ghosting off the dancefloor when the scores are counted? With the level of talent sky-high and everyone pulling out all the stops, it’s impossible to predict. Although dance pundits have noted that Dr Ranj Singh has been looking as green as a Halloween goblin in training this week – could the popular paediatrician be in danger of an early exit?

  • Current favorites Montell Douglas & Jamie Borthwick scored the first “perfect 10s” last week -can they summon up more magic tonight?
  • Sam Quek & Pete Wicks have narrowly avoided the dance-off so far – will they dodge danger again?
  • Bookmakers are offering generous odds on Ashley Taylor-Dawson being in the bottom two – could there be a Halloween horror in store for the Hollyoaks star?

One thing’s for sure, Halloween week always has a few spooky surprises and terrifying twists up its wizard’s sleeve. From wardrobe malfunctions to injury scares, this scare-filled special is notorious for keeping contestants on their toes (if they can feel them in those Frankenstein boots). As one pro grimly joked: “Halloween is scary… but the real horror is getting voted off in week six!”

Killer Choreography

Frights and fun aside though, the fancy dress extravaganza is still a chance for the stars to showcase their ever-growing dance skills. And according to our sequin-covered sources, some of the performances tonight will be shockingly good.

“There’s a couple of routines that are really going to make jaws drop – the choreography is spectacular,” the well-placed insider teased. “Put it this way, if the studio’s not full of screams tonight, it’ll be because everyone’s speechless!”

With the remaining celebs so evenly matched, any creepy stumbles could mean curtains for their Strictly dreams. It’ll be up to the Great British public to decide which two couples will be granted a Halloween reprieve… and which will have to face their worst nightmare in tomorrow night’s dance-off.

So pour yourself a pumpkin punch, grab a toffee apple and get ready for some deliciously dark dancing. As one Strictly superfan summed it up on Twitter: “Halloween on Strictly is basically Christmas for dance lovers. Spooky, sparkly and completely bonkers. Cannot WAIT!”

Tune in, turn on, and prepare to scream from the edge of your seat. Halloween week is here, and it’s sure to be a (crystal) ball!
