Scheffler Set for PGA Tour Return at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Golf fans, rejoice! The wait is almost over as reigning Masters champion and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has officially committed to make his much-anticipated 2025 PGA Tour debut at the star-studded AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am next week. The 26-year-old superstar is eager to return to competition for the first time in roughly six weeks after recovering from a freak hand injury sustained while cooking Christmas dinner.

Scheffler “Eager to Get Back” After Extended Absence

Scheffler, coming off one of the most dominant seasons in recent memory with nine victories including his second consecutive Masters title, has been sidelined since early December due to a puncture wound on his right hand that required surgery. The unfortunate kitchen accident forced the ultra-competitive Texan to miss out on the Tournament of Champions at Kapalua as well as last week’s The American Express.

But after about a month and a half of recovery and rehab, Scheffler announced earlier this week that his hand has healed well and he’s itching to tee it up again against the world’s best. “I’m feeling good, the recovery has gone really well and I’m eager to get back out there,” Scheffler told reporters. “It’s been an unusual offseason for me not being able to practice much, but I’m excited to knock the rust off and get back after it.”

Dominant Scheffler Seeks to Pick Up Where He Left Off

When we last saw Scheffler in action, the 2022 Masters champ closed out a historic 2024 campaign in typical dominant fashion, going back-to-back at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in early December and teaming up with Rory McIlroy two weeks later to trounce LIV Golf stars Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau in The Match made-for-TV exhibition. That team win capped a monster year featuring, in addition to the Masters repeat, wins in The PLAYERS Championship, a second WGC-Match Play title, another Gold Medal at the Paris Olympics, and FedEx Cup trophy.

I like to shut it down in the offseason and just focus on training. Even though I couldn’t do much upper body work, I was still able to keep up with my routine and work on other aspects of my game. I’m looking forward to testing it under the gun again.

Scheffler Set for Star-Studded Showdown at Pebble

Scheffler will make his 2025 debut at an event he’s very familiar with in the scenic AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. It’s one of the Tour’s signature events boasting a strong field of 80 players battling it out across three legendary tracks: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club.

Last year, Scheffler tied for sixth at this event when fierce winds slashed the tournament to 54 holes. He’ll look to channel some of that strong coastal play in hopes of becoming the fourth player to complete the “AT&T Slam” with wins in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, AT&T Byron Nelson, and now-named AT&T at the Greenbrier.

  • Scheffler’s 2024 Season Highlights:
    • 9 PGA Tour wins including the Masters
    • 25 consecutive weeks at world No. 1
    • Record $37.5M in Tour earnings
    • 12 top-5 finishes in 20 tournaments
    • Gold Medal at Paris Olympics

All Eyes on Scheffler’s 2025 Follow-Up Campaign

After authoring one of the greatest seasons in PGA Tour history, many are wondering what the young superstar will do for an encore in 2025. Oddsmakers have already tabbed Scheffler as the prohibitive favorite to defend his Masters title, but beyond that, expectations are sky-high as he looks to further cement his status as this generation’s premier golfer.

At the still-tender age of 26, Scheffler seems to only be getting better, combining his Tour-leading consistency with a steely demeanor and killer instinct that draws comparisons to peak Tiger Woods. While it may be premature to start fitting Scheffler for a fifth Green Jacket, his trajectory certainly has him on pace to be one of the sport’s all-time greats if he can sustain this level of excellence. For now, we can simply marvel at his greatness, and look forward to the return of Scottie’s magical shot-making and unflinching composure as he kicks off his 2025 campaign next week in Pebble. The golf world waits with bated breath.
