The announcement came during Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov’s visit to North Korea on Friday, where he met with the country’s leader Kim Jong-un.
According to state media reports, the two nations plan to bolster defense capabilities and promote friendly relations between their armies across all areas, including military cooperation. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has urged the alliance to extend an invitation to Kyiv at its upcoming meeting in Brussels. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also suggested that Ukrainian territory under his control should be placed under the “Nato umbrella” to halt the “hot stage” of the war.
“That’s what we need to do fast, and then Ukraine can get back the other part of its territory diplomatically,” Zelenskyy told Sky News.

In a rare speech, the head of MI6, Richard Moore, warned that abandoning Ukraine would jeopardize British, European, and US security and lead to “infinitely higher” costs in the long term.
“Our security – British, French, European and transatlantic – will be jeopardized,” Moore cautioned, adding that Russian President Vladimir Putin “would not stop” at Ukraine if allowed to subjugate it.

The MI6 chief accused Russia of waging a “staggeringly reckless campaign” of sabotage in Europe while stepping up its nuclear threats to deter other countries from backing Kyiv.
