Project Liberty Partners With SOAR to Challenge Centralized Social Giants

In a bold move to challenge the dominance of centralized social media giants, the decentralized social platform Project Liberty has announced a deep partnership with SOAR.com, a suite of AI-powered data sharing portals. The collaboration aims to offer users alternatives that prioritize data sovereignty and leverage artificial intelligence responsibly.

Empowering Families and Communities with AI

SOAR, founded by Ancestry creator and serial entrepreneur Paul Allen, encompasses a family portal and a citizen portal. The family portal, originally built on Facebook with 120 million users, will utilize AI-powered transcription technology to record and store a universe of family interactions. Meanwhile, the citizen portal provides an easily searchable local government data service with over a million hours of transcripts and information from municipal, county, and national meetings.

Allen was drawn to Project Liberty’s promise of allowing users to maintain permanent control over their data – a trust relationship that has been abused by Facebook and Ancestry.com after his departure. He emphasizes the need for sovereign citizenship in the digital world, respecting human rights online.

“We must have sovereign citizenship in the future of the Web, respecting our human rights in the digital world,” Allen stated in an interview.

Blockchain-Powered Decentralization and Growth

Since launching its Frequency blockchain, Project Liberty has onboarded 1.3 million users. The partnership with SOAR’s Family and Citizens portals is expected to attract tens of millions more in the future, as people seek alternatives to powerful incumbent social platforms. Tomicah Tillemann, President of Project Liberty, views this as an opportunity to “do AI right” in addition to bringing decentralization.

Potential TikTok Acquisition

Project Liberty has also emerged as a potential bidder for the US assets of Chinese-owned TikTok, should the company be forced to sell to an American owner. Tillemann revealed significant activity around the TikTok bid, with commitments of tens of billions in capital to participate in the effort.

“We are widely viewed at this point as the leading bidder for TikTok’s US assets in the event that they become available,” Tillemann claimed.

If successful, Project Liberty aims to bring TikTok and its 170 million American users onto the same infrastructure being developed in partnership with the Frequency blockchain.

Upcoming Summit on the Future of the Internet

To further advance its mission, Project Liberty will host its inaugural summit on the future of the internet in Washington DC on November 21-22. The event will bring together stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in creating a more equitable and decentralized online ecosystem.

As the battle for the soul of social media intensifies, partnerships like that between Project Liberty and SOAR offer a glimpse into a possible future where users have greater control over their digital lives. By combining decentralized technologies with responsible AI, these initiatives aim to create a more balanced and empowering online experience for individuals, families, and communities worldwide.
