Police Search for Missing Sisters in Aberdeen City Center

A major search operation is underway in Aberdeen as police attempt to locate twin sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, both 32 years old, who were reported missing after last being seen in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The women’s disappearance has sparked an urgent police appeal for information from the public to help trace their whereabouts.

Sisters Captured on CCTV Before Vanishing

The Huszti sisters were captured on CCTV footage around Victoria Bridge in central Aberdeen shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Images released by Police Scotland show the women, who are described as being white, slim build, with long brown hair, crossing the bridge that spans the River Dee close to the city’s port area.

Chief Inspector Darren Bruce said extensive inquiries are ongoing to trace the sisters, with search teams being deployed around the area they were last sighted:

“The Torry side of Victoria Bridge where they were last seen has many commercial and industrial units. Searches are ongoing here and we would urge businesses in and around the South Esplanade and Menzies Road area to please review their CCTV footage for early morning on Tuesday 7 January 2025 and contact us if it holds anything that may be relevant to our investigation. We also ask anyone with dashcam footage from that time to contact us.”

Police Dogs and Marine Units Join Search

Specialist resources including police dogs and marine units have been brought in to assist the major missing persons inquiry, focusing on the River Dee and surrounding area where the sisters appear to have been heading after crossing Victoria Bridge.

The search teams face challenging terrain, with a mix of industrial sites, waterways, and densely populated city streets to comb for any trace of Eliza and Henrietta Huszti. Police say they are extremely concerned for the women’s welfare, three days after their unexplained disappearance.

Family’s Emotional Appeal for Missing Sisters

The missing women’s distraught family have issued an emotional appeal for Eliza and Henrietta to get in touch, or for anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, the Huszti family said:

“Eliza and Henrietta, if you see this, please know that we love you and are desperate to know that you are safe. We just want you to come home. If anyone has seen our daughters or has any information at all about where they might be, please contact the police immediately. We are so worried and just need to know they are okay.”

Urgent Appeal for Public’s Help

Police have urged anyone who may have seen Eliza and Henrietta, or who has any information about their movements or current location, to get in touch right away.

Chief Inspector Bruce said the sisters’ disappearance is very out of character and becoming increasingly concerning given the passage of time:

“As more time passes, we are growing increasingly concerned for Eliza and Henrietta’s welfare. Their disappearance is completely out of character and we need the public’s help to find them safe and well. If you have seen the sisters, have dashcam or CCTV footage that may show where they went, or have any information at all that could assist, please come forward urgently.”
