In a remarkable achievement, University of Connecticut star guard Paige Bueckers became the fastest player in the storied program’s history to reach 2,000 career points. The junior standout hit the impressive milestone in the Huskies’ dominant 96-36 victory over Seton Hall on Sunday.

Bueckers, who has battled injuries throughout her collegiate career, needed just 102 games to eclipse the 2,000-point mark. She surpassed the previous record of 108 games set by UConn legend Maya Moore, solidifying her status as one of the most prolific scorers to ever don the Huskies jersey.

A Testament to Perseverance and Skill

Head coach Geno Auriemma lauded Bueckers’ accomplishment, emphasizing the mental and physical challenges she has overcome to reach this point. “To be able to put that many points on the board in that short period of time is one tremendous accomplishment,” Auriemma said. He praised her unwavering commitment to the game and her ability to stay positive despite the setbacks she has faced.

“I don’t know too many people that work at the game as hard and as often as she does, so I’m glad that she’s being rewarded. And I’m sure there’s a few more points in her future.”
