Oregon Releases 4-Star WR Dallas Wilson to Join Florida Gators

In a stunning development just two weeks after the start of the early signing period, four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson has been released from his financial aid agreement with the Oregon Ducks, sources told ESPN on Thursday. The 6-foot-4 playmaker from Tampa, ranked as the No. 39 overall prospect in the 2025 class by ESPN, now plans to sign with the Florida Gators and enroll in January.

Wilson, who originally committed to Oregon in January 2023, submitted his request for release on Tuesday due to a desire to be closer to home amidst a family member’s health issues, per sources. The Ducks formally granted the release on Thursday, paving the way for the No. 7 wide receiver in the country to join Billy Napier’s budding offense in Gainesville.

From Eugene to The Swamp

Despite fierce efforts from the likes of Miami, Florida State and the Gators to flip him leading up to signing day, Wilson remained steadfastly committed to Dan Lanning’s vision at Oregon. He inked his LOI with the Ducks on December 4th as one of the headliners in the program’s first-ever No. 1 ranked recruiting class.

However, just over two weeks later, the speedy deep threat finds himself released from that very agreement and set to trade in green and yellow for orange and blue. In Gainesville, Wilson will join forces with other elite pass-catchers like Vernell Brown III (No. 44) and Naeshaun Montgomery (No. 116) to provide dynamic weapons for five-star QB signee D.J. Lagway.

Dallas Wilson was one of the earliest believers and builders of this historic Oregon class. While we support him and his family fully, make no mistake—the trajectory of this program remains sky-high. Go Ducks!

Loaded in the Sunshine State

Wilson’s addition provides yet another boost to an already talent-rich receiver room assembled by Napier and his staff in the 2025 cycle. The Tampa native put up video game numbers at Tampa Bay Tech, hauling in 130 passes for 2,423 yards and 28 touchdowns across his varsity career.

His rare combination of size, speed, and ball skills should translate seamlessly to the SEC, where he’ll team up with fellow Sunshine State products like Brown—whose father Vernell Brown Jr. played DB for the Gators and currently serves as Wilson’s agent.

Ripple Effects in Eugene

Even with Wilson’s departure, Oregon still boasts 16 signees inside the ESPN 300, headlined by No. 1 overall WR Dakorien Moore and five-star DB Na’eem Offord, who flipped from Ohio State on signing day. Lanning and his staff will look to reload quickly to fill the void left by Wilson.

The Ducks are still likely to retain their spot atop the 2025 class rankings when the dust settles in February. But there’s no question that Wilson’s flip to Florida marks a significant shakeup in the recruiting landscape as we barrel towards next season.

When I signed with Oregon, I felt it was the best place for me on and off the field. After recent developments, I believe being closer to my family is what’s most important. I’m grateful to Coach Lanning for his understanding and I can’t wait to be a Gator!
