Gen. Martin Dempsey Returns as USA Basketball Chair Through 2028 Olympics

In a move that brings stability and proven leadership to USA Basketball, retired Gen. Martin E. Dempsey has been re-elected as chairperson through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Dempsey, who served in the military for 41 years before retiring in 2015, has held the position since 2016 and will now guide the organization as both the men’s and women’s teams seek to continue their Olympic gold medal dominance.

Gen. Dempsey’s extensive military career includes serving as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Barack Obama.
