Wrexham midfielder Elliot Lee took to Instagram on Wednesday to share harrowing photos of the car he was driving when involved in a serious accident last week. The mangled wreckage depicted in the images underscores the life-threatening nature of the crash, from which Lee thankfully emerged without major injury.
“In the Blink of an Eye”
In the emotional post, Lee reflected on the fragility of life and how everything can change in an instant. He wrote:
“Last Tuesday night I found out just how fragile life is and in the blink of an eye, through no fault of your own, it has the potential to change drastically.”
The accident occurred as Lee was returning home from Wrexham’s Vertu Trophy victory over Bolton Wanderers. According to the club, the crash involved another vehicle, with both drivers being transported to the hospital in the aftermath.
“Someone Looking Over Me”
Expressing gratitude for avoiding catastrophic injury or worse, Lee shared his belief that he had divine protection that night:
“Thankfully I had someone looking over me, but I’m well aware of how different the outcome could’ve been. It has been overwhelming to see how much people care and the love and support I have around me with my family and friends.”
Lee went on to thank the emergency services for their assistance and all those who sent kind messages in the days following the incident. He made special mention of Wrexham’s staff and his partner, who rushed to the hospital and stayed by his side throughout the night.
Focus on Swift Recovery
While still processing the traumatic event, Lee expressed his determination to return to action as soon as possible:
“It has been a tough week, but I’m feeling very lucky and very grateful… Hoping to be back on the pitch asap.”
The 27-year-old has been instrumental in Wrexham’s promotion campaign this season, notching seven goals in League 1 to rank as the club’s second-leading scorer. His presence in the lineup will be vital as the Red Dragons continue their push for a return to the English Football League.
