Legendary golfer Davis Love III is recovering well after undergoing open-heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. The news was shared by CBS’ Jim Nantz during the network’s coverage of the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open on Saturday.
According to Nantz, who spoke with Love after he was released from the hospital, the surgery was a planned procedure to repair a leaky heart valve that was first discovered a decade ago. “I went in healthy, and I came out healthier,” Love told Nantz, indicating the operation was a success.
A Storied Career on the PGA Tour
Davis Love III, 60, is one of the most accomplished golfers in PGA Tour history. Over his lengthy career, he has amassed an impressive 21 victories, including:
