The NASCAR Xfinity Series witnessed a dominant performance by Austin Hill at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday night. Hill, driving the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, secured his fourth victory of the season and clinched his spot in the championship finale next month at Phoenix Raceway.
A Stellar Drive and Emotional Victory
Starting fifth out of the eight playoff drivers, Hill faced an uphill battle to secure his place in the championship four. However, he put on a stellar performance, leading the race for an impressive 79 laps and ultimately passing Cole Custer in the No. 00 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford with just 12 laps remaining.
As he crossed the finish line, Hill became overwhelmed with emotion, saying through tears, “Aw, man. That’s awesome. I can honestly say I’ve never cried coming to the finish line. I couldn’t even get my emotions together going into Turn 1.”
“I worked so hard at this, a lot of people doubt me, but I wake up every day to prove everyone wrong. I deserve to be here. I deserve to race for a championship.”

The Battle for the Championship Four
With his victory, Hill joins AJ Allmendinger as the first two drivers to secure their spots in the championship finale. Allmendinger had already punched his ticket the previous week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Cole Custer, who finished second to Hill, moved up to fourth in the standings and remains in contention for one of the two remaining championship spots. Aric Almirola, a non-playoff driver racing for Joe Gibbs Racing, finished third, followed by Jesse Love of Richard Childress Racing, who sits sixth in the standings.
The Final Showdown at Martinsville
The remaining playoff drivers – Justin Allgaier (8th), Chandler Smith (13th), Sam Mayer (9th), and Sammy Smith (22nd) – will have one last chance to secure their spot in the championship four at the upcoming race at Martinsville Speedway on November 2nd.
With the stakes higher than ever and only one race left to determine the final two contenders, fans can expect an intense battle at the historic Virginia short track. Each driver will be pushing their limits to join Hill and Allmendinger in the fight for the NASCAR Xfinity Series crown at Phoenix Raceway.
As the season reaches its climax, the question remains: who will rise to the occasion at Martinsville and earn their shot at championship glory? The stage is set for an unforgettable conclusion to the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs.
