In a stunning display of English dominance, Nathan Aspinall, Chris Dobey and Callan Rydz steamrolled their way into the quarterfinals of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship during Monday’s afternoon session at the iconic Alexandra Palace in London.
Aspinall Annihilates Pietreczko
12th seed Nathan Aspinall put on the most dominant performance of the trio, absolutely thrashing Germany’s Ricardo Pietreczko in a lopsided 4-0 victory that whipped the patriotic British crowd into a frenzy.
I feel for Ricardo there, he didn’t play the game he set out to play. I have never heard an atmosphere like this.
Nathan Aspinall
Aspinall now eagerly awaits his quarterfinal opponent – either tournament favorite Luke Littler or the tenacious Ryan Joyce, who face off in a highly anticipated evening matchup.
Dobey Digs Deep
Meanwhile, 15th seed Chris Dobey had to dig much deeper to overcome the Netherlands’ Kevin Doets. After falling behind 2-3, Dobey capitalized on Doets’ critical misses at doubles in the sixth and seventh sets to engineer a gritty comeback win.
Dobey now sets his sights on a quarterfinal clash with the always dangerous Gerwyn Price, in what promises to be an explosive encounter between two of the sport’s biggest personalities.
Rydz Rebounds
Callan Rydz, who has been posting some of the highest averages in the tournament, also had to overcome early adversity against Wales’ Robert Owen. Despite quickly falling into a 0-2 hole, Rydz regrouped and reeled off four straight sets to book his spot in the final eight.
Next up for Rydz is a quarterfinal date with either three-time World Champion Michael van Gerwen or the unseeded Jeffrey de Graaf, who will battle it out on Monday evening.
English Takeover
With Aspinall, Dobey and Rydz all advancing, and Luke Littler still in contention, the prospect of an All-English semifinal lineup at Alexandra Palace is suddenly looking like a very real possibility.
- 4 Englishmen remain in the final 12
- Aspinall, Dobey & Rydz are all in the same half of the draw
- Young phenom Littler looms as the odds-on favorite
As the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship races towards its climax, one thing is abundantly clear – the host nation will be very well represented in the business end of this prestigious tournament. With the Alexandra Palace crowd passionately cheering them on, Aspinall, Dobey, Rydz and potentially Littler all have genuine title aspirations.
Hold on tight dart fans, because the fireworks have only just begun in London! The 2025 World Champion will soon be crowned on that magical stage. And based on Monday’s events, that champion may very well be English…
